I was contacted by Mark Callan, the Professional at Woodbrook Golf Club, to see would I be interested in working for him in April and May. Mark had heard that I was working in Halpenny Golf and Killiney Golf Club, and he needed someone to work in his shop as he was going to Spain with the Woodbrook members for 5 days. My duties included opening and closing the shop, doing the end of day cash, running timesheets and competitions for members of Woodbrook, ordering in products from suppliers and merchandising the shop. I enjoy working in Woodbrook as it is a very busy golf club so there is always a lot to do.

Throughout the TY Year I worked for Halpenny Golf both for Transition Year Work Expericnce and as a member of staff. I did a weeks Work Experience in November, where I checked in new stock, priced up and put barcodes on Winter clothing, merchandised the store and conducted stock takes. I also worked on the shop floor, helping to custom fit golf clubs. They were very happy with how I worked, so over the Christmas holidays they asked me to come back to work in the store. I also worked for them in February and March. I hope to be working there again during the Summer holidays.
A week after we finished our Transition Year Musical, our whole year went off to Carlingford Adventure Centre in County Louth for a week of outdoor activities that would challenge the whole years togetherness and their trust in each other. We enjoyed activities such as Sky Park and Lazer Combat. Within an hour of our arrival in Carlingford, we had set off the fire alarm in the centre !During our trip we were challenged to face our fears and face objects that we didn't want to encounter. I myself am proud of how I got on and how I treated the week and I would be happy to return to Carlingford in the future to see if there is a change about how I approach the activities. I really enjoyed spending time with the rest of the class and getting to know everyone better.
During Transition Year we produced a musical called Legally Blonde. I was given the job of ticket designer, programme designer and I also ran the front of house operations. l also minded the dogs that were used on the stage during the musical.! I really enjoyed the Musical, it was very well produced and all the parents who attended the show really enjoyed their evening.
For the week of the 4th to the 8th of December I worked in the Professional Shop at KIlliney Golf Club. I had many duties to perform. including organising competitions for the members of the club, repairing broken golf clubs, merchandising the products in the Golf Shop, running the daily time sheet to make sure everyone played at the correct time.and selling golf equipment to the members of the club. I worked with Leo Hynes (Head Professional) and Andrew Plunkett (Assistsant Professional).
I spent two days working for my Grandfather, who owns Bardis Music, which is Ireland's biggest Music Publishing company. My Grandfather works with acts such as Daniel O'Donnell, Nathan Carter and Garth Brooks. My jobs included arranging set lists for artists and organising royalty payments from radio stations. I really liked this job as it was interesting to be involved with so many famous musicians.
From Monday the 13th to Friday 17th of November I attended Dell EMC in Cherrywood to do work experience. The Cherrywood facility is the European base for Dell EMC. My uncle , who works in Dell EMC, was able to get me into the company to take part in their Transition Year Programme. .I knew after the first day that my expectations for the week were exactly right as it was a really positive place to work. I was nrevous about going into such a big company and learning how it was run and how the employees were treated by their bosses.. However I realised very early on that Dell EMC is a really relaxed place to work and everyone was very friendly. My responsibilities at Dell EMC were pretty much the same as school, we learnt about the company in one room and we were then given laptops to use whole we were working. At the end of the week I made a presentation to the executives about how Dell EC can make Social Media sites safer for people to visit. My experience in Dell EMC was very pleasant and I felt we did good work. We had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about Dell EMC and what they sell , what they develop and what they do to remain the number one privately owned technology company in the world. We learnt about how Dell EMC makes servers and how they put chips in cows to monitor their health and to monitor their milk supplies. I really enjoyed my week in Dell EMC. On Tuesday the 10th of October, the class of 4A went to Kairos Communications in Maynooth, Co.Kildare. My class decided to do a Fashion show, which included some interviews and a sport segment. I was the Graphic designer and I created all the graphics for the TV show. It was far harder than I expected, but it was fun to do. I really enjoyed the day !
On Thursday 21st September we did an Eagles Flight workshop, where we did the Dutchman Golds game. We did team building and we did very well. I think we did the best out of everyone in the group . The purpose of this game was to bring our minds together and help with our decision making as a group.
On Wednesday the 13th of September we got our Junior Certificate results and afterwards we went to Lough Dan in Roundwood Co Wicklow. It was a tough few hours but when we got our tent set up t some of the guys went on a walk. I didn't go for the walk, but when the group came back we sat beside the campfire for the whole night. We were all told to go to sleep but we didn't. It was very hard in the tent as we had 4 people in a 2 man tent It was very cramped and stuffy so it was hard to get a good nights sleep. In the morning we had breakfast then we went out for a 22KM hike and after that I went home....for a good nights sleep !!
